What is the difference between a newsletter and an e-blast?

A newsletter is sent on a regular basis. There are newsletters to promote your collection that are often based on genre or topic, like “Fiction A to Z” or “Biographies and Mysteries.” You can also create a newsletter promoting your library’s programs and events, online resources and author visits, for example.

An e-blast is usually shorter than a newsletter and sent as a one-time event, such as announcing a change in library hours due to inclement weather or an upcoming holiday, a program cancellation, or a special event. E-blasts are a great way to focus attention on one message.
