Cheat Sheet: Create a Flyer Using 3-Layer Templates

1. Find a 3-Layer Template

LibraryAware has lots of 3-layer flyer templates. With these templates you have the freedom to customize each layer individually, so don't worry too much about your choice of template.  Just look for one that has the look you want!
  • Click Create Item under your promotion
  • Select Print Materials then Flyers-Events
  • Search "3 Layer" in the search box at the top of the list of templates.
  • Find a template and click orange Select This Template button


2. Add your Event(s) 

If you use Evanced Events you can easily add from your Evanced calendar.  Or enter the info for a new event yourself!
  • First enter your Item Name
  • On the left side, click Select Event and click Use this event for the event you want to include
  • Click Save Reusables and Edit Content on the left side


3. Add and Edit an Image for the Background Layer

Each layer of your flyer will contain design elements that you can work with separately.  In the background layer you will use an image, either a photo or one of LibraryAware's background patterns.
  • Move your mouse over the flyer to see the yellow boxes around each layer and click inside the outermost box 
  • Click the Swap Image button
  • Search images by keyword or search "backgrounds"  and select your image
  • Edit the image using the zoom buttons and adjusting the opacity
  • Edit your color swatch to change that background color

4. Add an Image for the Middle Layer

The middle layer has another design element in it, like a shape that goes behind your text or a small image that has a transparent background.
  • Move your mouse over the flyer to see the yellow boxes and click just inside the middle box
  • Click the Swap Image button
  • Search "shapes" or "transparent" and select an image
  • Edit the image by using the zoom buttons, moving it around, or adjusting the opacity 

5. Edit the Text for the Top Layer

Your flyer text is in your top layer.  
  • Move your mouse over the flyer to see the yellow boxes and click just inside the innermost box     
  • Edit your text or change the font with the Font drop-down  
  • Use the Text Color button to change the color of the font
  • Click the Save button

What else can you do with it?

Print and Post it in Your Library

  • Click Save
  • Click the Print button
  • Hover over the Print Preview and click the Print icon to send the flyer to you printer

Post to Facebook

  • Click Save
  • Click the Publish To button and select Facebook
  • Under Post Content, enter a message to go along with the flyer
  • Click Post Now or Schedule for Later

Post to NoveList Select in your catalog

  • Click Save
  • Click the Publish To button and select Catalog
  • Select when you want to post it
  • Enter a title and description
  • Select relevant audiences and subject headings
  • Click Save Publication Event
