Cheat Sheet: Create a Book Flyer

Looking for an easy way to provide readers' advisory and promote your collection? You're in the right place! LibraryAware has hundreds of book flyer templates, created by graphic designers with library experience. Use these templates as-is — just create, save, and print — or customize by changing book jackets, text, colors, and more.

1. Choose a template
You can search for a book flyer template from the HOME tab at the top of LibraryAware. Or select the FOLDERS tab, openthe folder you would like your book flyer to be saved in, then select the Create Item button.
  • Search using keywords related to a topic, genre, author, or title. Find more keywords to try.

  • Use the Refine column on the left to limit to the format Flyer-Books



    NOTE: To browse all book flyer templates, don't enter any search terms or keywords. Simply use the Refine column on the left to limit to the format Flyer-Books.

  • Select a template and click the Create button. The template will then open in the Drag & Drop Editor.

2. Swap book jackets
Need to swap a book jacket image for one of your choice?
  • In the flyer, select an existing book jacket image. The LibraryAware Image Selector will open.

  • Choose the Book Jackets tab.

  • Search for your book.

  • Use the Select Jacket button to add the book to your flyer. The jacket image will be added sized to that of the original image.

  • Need to re-size? Use the corner handles to enlarge or shrink the image. Use the Fill button on the image editing toolbar to fill the image frame.

  • Happy with the image? Select Accept from the image editing toolbar.

Pro tip! Use NoveList Plus to quickly find recommended titles related to the theme or topic of your flyer.


3. Change the text
Change the text in the template -- title, call-outs, subject headings/appeals factors, etc. 
  • Select the text area to edit.

  • Highlight the text you want to change.

  • Enter new text.

  • Make sure to Save when you are done.

4. More ways to customize

What can you do with your book flyer?


Print it and display it in your shelves

  • Save the flyer.

  • Select the Print icon at the top right of the editor.

  • When the Document Print window opens, select the Print icon.

Save it as an image (PNG)

  • From the folder the flyer is saved in, hover over the flyer thumbnail to locate the three-dot menu.

  • From the three-dot menu, select View Image.

  • The image will open in a new browser tab.

  • Right click on the image and select Save image as.

  • Choose the save location on your computer and name the file. 

Post it to Facebook or Twitter

  • From the folder the flyer is saved in, hover over the flyer thumbnail to locate the three-dot menu.

  • From the three-dot menu, select Share on Facebook or Share on Twitter.

  • Under Post Content, enter a message to go along with the flyer.

  • Select Post Now or Schedule for Later.

Post it to Pinterest

  • From the folder the flyer is saved in, hover over the flyer thumbnail to locate the three-dot menu.

  • From the three-dot menu, select Share on Pinterest.

  • The flyer will open in a new browser tab.

  • Select the Pinterest Save button.

  • Sign into Pinterest and save the flyer to your board.
