I want to create a widget and add it to my library's website

There are two types of widgets in LibraryAware: Widgets and Newsletter widgets.

  • Widgets allow you to post information about library events, books, and e-resources to your library’s website. Widgets can also be used as digital signage on the screens in your library.

  • Newsletter widgets or book rivers allow you to show the books from your recent newsletter issues or post links to recent newsletter issues on your library’s website.

To create and add a Widget:

  1. Create a widget container that you will place on your website. (See How do I create widget containers to hold my widgets? page)
  2. Add the widget container to your website. (See How do I add a widget container to my website to display my widgets? page)
  3. Create the content for your widgets. (See How do I create a widget? page)
  4. Publish your widgets to the widget container.  (See How do I add a widget to my widget container? page)

To create and add a Newsletter Widget:

  1. Create a newsletter list and issue. (See How do I create a newsletter list? page and How do I create and edit a newsletter issue? page)
  2. Send the newsletter issue to your subscribers. (See How do I schedule a newsletter issue to send to my subscribers? page)
  3. Create a newsletter widget container that you will place on your website. (See How do I create a newsletter widget or add newsletter content to my site? page)
  4. Add the widget container to your website. (See How do I add a widget container to my website to display my widgets? page)

Note: You can create a newsletter widget container before creating a newsletter issue, but creating the container after the issues are created and sent allows you to preview the widget before adding it to your website.
