I want to email my patrons events or news from an RSS feed

Want a quick way to add blog posts, news, press releases or events to an email newsletter? With an RSS feed link and a LibraryAware template, it's easy.
 
Use our new RSS feed templates to add a blog post or event’s title, link, date, and description.

Add RSS feeds in Admin section


You will first need to add the RSS feed as a data source in the Admin section.

Note: Only users who are assigned the Administrator role will be able to add, edit, or delete RSS feeds. 

1. Click the Admin link at the top of your screen.


2. Click on Asset Management in the left sidebar, then click on Data Sources


3. Click the orange Create button to add a new RSS Feed.


4. Enter the name of your RSS feed and paste in the Feed URL. The checkbox next to “Make this RSS feed available for use” should be checked. Then click Save



Editing your RSS feeds



1. Click the Admin link at the top of your screen.


2. Click on Asset Management in the left sidebar, then click on Data Sources.
 
3. Use the Data Sources menu to edit an RSS feed title or URL. Click the Edit link. 


4. This will open the Edit RSS Feed page. Make any necessary changes and click Save Changes.
 

Deleting your RSS feeds


1. Click the Delete link to remove the RSS link from use. 


2. You will be asked to confirm your deletion. Click the Delete button. 


3. A deletion confirmation message will appear in green.



Deactivating RSS feeds


1. If you prefer to keep your RSS feed in the RSS Feeds section but not allow it to be used, click the Deactivate link. 


2. You will be asked to confirm the deactivation by clicking the Deactivate button. 


3. The deactivated feed will no longer appear in the RSS Feeds menu. 


Reactivate RSS feeds


1. To reactivate your deactivated RSS feeds, click the Show Deactivated Feeds checkbox. Then click the Activate link to the right. 


2. You will be asked to confirm the activation.


3. The activated RSS feed will again appear in your RSS feeds list.



Find email templates in the Folders section with RSS sections


You will want to find an email template that includes RSS feed sections.

1. Type "RSS" in the search bar to bring up templates with the RSS feed feature in the layout.


2. Click the Create button under the template thumbnail you would like to use. The email template will open in the Classic editor.
3. To add a new RSS feed section, click the Add New button. Then hover over the RSS Feed option.


You will have four RSS feed layout options:
  • Image on Left
  • Image on Right
  • Title, Date and description
  • Title and Date
4. Choose one of the layout options. A Select RSS Item pop-up menu will appear. Choose your RSS feed from the drop-down menu at the left. Use the search bar to find the RSS item you would like to add. Then click the Use this item button.


5. Your chosen RSS item will be placed in your email.


6. Make any changes to the text or add an image if you would like.

7. Add additional RSS feed items by following steps 3-6.


Add RSS sections to email newsletter templates in the Newsletter section


1. Click the Newsletters link at the top, and then click Newsletter Lists on the left. Click the Create List button.


2. Fill in the details under the Create Newsletter List menu.


3. Choose a template by clicking the Customize list layout button. Scroll through the options and pick your template. Then click Select Layout.


4. Click Save Changes in the Create Newsletter List menu. 

5. Click the Create Issue button on the right. 


6. Your newsletter issue will open up in the Classic editor. To add an RSS feed section, click the Add New button. Hover over the RSS Feed option and then choose a layout. 


You will have four RSS feed layout options:

  • Title, Date and description
  • Title and Date
7. Choose one of the layout options. A Select RSS Item pop-up menu will appear. Choose your RSS feed from the drop-down menu at the left. Use the search bar to find the RSS item you would like to add. Then click the Use this item button. 



8. Your chosen RSS item will be placed in your email.


9. Make any changes to the text or add an image if you would like.

10. Add additional RSS feed items by following steps 6-8.
