I want to email my patrons events or news from an RSS feed
Want a quick way to add blog posts, news, press releases, or events to an email? It's east to do with an RSS feed link and a LibraryAware template!
To have RSS feed content available, first add the RSS feed as a data source in the Admin section.

Add RSS Feed Content in the Drag & Drop Email Editor
LibraryAware’s Template Modules in the Drag & Drop Email Editor offer a selection of ready-made Containers and Structures you can use to quickly pull in Book/AV records, Events, and RSS items.
To find templates made for the Drag & Drop Email Editor, search for the theme or topic of the e-blast you wish to create. At the results page, use the Refine column on the left to limit by Editor Type: Drag & Drop Email.
- In the editor, expand the Modules tab.
- Select Template Modules.
- Scroll to browse through the Modules, or search by entering RSS.
- When you locate the Module you want to use, select it and drag it into position in your email.
- Once the Template Module has been added to your e-blast, hover over it to locate the Smart Container or Smart Structure tab and click it. The Data settings will open on the left.
- Under Appearance (below the Data label), navigate to Choose the product.
- Select Browse. The Select Smart Element pop-up will open.
- Use the drop-down to select an RSS feed.
- Enter your search terms or scroll through the list of items.
- Locate the item you want to use and click the Select button. The data from the item that is included in the module will auto-populate.
- In the Data settings, you will be able to edit any of the data fields listed.
- To edit the image, click on the image in the e-blast. This will open the Image Block settings. Select the Change image icon to open the LibraryAware Image selector. Search for a new image or upload your own.
- To edit the description, click on the description text in the e-blast. This will open the Text Block settings. Edit the text copy in the e-blast, change any of the text settings on the left, or use the Text Formatting toolbar at the top of the screen.
Add RSS Feed Content in the Classic Editor
Some e-blast templates and the Newsletter Issues created in Newsletter Lists under the NEWSLETTERS tab on the top navigation toolbar use the Classic Editor.
To find e-blast templates made for the Classic Editor, search for the theme or topic of the e-blast you wish to create. At the results page, use the Refine column on the left to limit by Format: E-Blasts and Editor Type: Classic.
- In the editor, navigate to the section above where you want to add RSS content and click on it.
- A toolbar will appear. Click Add New.
- Choose RSS Feed and select a layout option.
- The Select RSS Item pop-up will appear. Use the drop-down to select an RSS feed.
- Enter your search terms or scroll through the list of items.
- Locate the item you want to use and click the Use this Item button. The data from the item that is included in the RSS layout you selected will auto-populate.
- Edit text and images as desired.
